In 2008 we started a Powerchair squad which caters for disabled players who are dependent on a wheelchair for mobility. There is an official 4-a-side game played with powered wheelchairs which even has its own World Cup. We have increased our membership of this section to such an extent that we now have two squads competing at National level. Due to the rules governing this sport we needed to create a second club identity, and were pleased when the Manchester United Foundation agreed that we could work in partnership with them to create a team under the banner of Manchester United. In their first season they established their position in the National League and became the Northwest Powerchair League champions.
