We have for some time, been hoping to take on an Assistant Head Coach and have recently made the decision to welcome Matt Murray into the club. Many of you will already know Matt and I’m sure had positive experiences when dealing with him.

Given the size of Sale United and the challenges we face operating the club day to day, this decision was made to enable us to be more proactive and improve the level of service to our coaches, players and parents.

Matt has been with Sale United for 4 years. Initially with both the U9 Colts and U12 Tigers assisting Brett and Aaron (respective managers). He then moved across to our Pre-Foundation phase (U6, U7 & U8s) being heavily involved planning and facilitating their weekly schedule whilst networking with other local clubs to arraneg friendlies and tournaments.

A recent graduate with a degree in Football Coaching and Management, he will be a great asset to the club.

Pleased to announce we have recently started a new annual Christmas Tournament in partnership with Unicorn and Longford Park. The USL Tournament got underway recently at varying sites with our U7s heading out to Longford Park.

Here we see one of the Sale teams, coached by Jean, who all had a brilliant morning playing 7 mini matches in total. Won 3, Drew 2, Lost 2 with very close competitive games throughout. Well done to the players of all clubs and across all sites for taking part over the weekend.

Congratulations to our U10 Hawks who won the Autumn Cup making them back to back Champions. Starting with an away win at Wilmslow with great performances particularly from Will and Harrison.  Second round saw Alex brilliantly save two penalties to claim the bonus point. With the table taking shape the derby vs Sale Communities would have a big impact on the destination of the cup.  Some great team goals finished off by Seb and Freddie helped put them 3-0 up, but somehow in the dying moments with the scoreline 5-4 they conceded a last minute penalty only for Mason to pull off a worldie and save it.  Heading into the final game against Longford it was all in the Hawks owns hands.  Joe dominated the middle of the park with Sava and the Lukes Maldini-esque as ever at the back while Yousef helped himself to a hat trick bringing the curtain down on a very successful undefeated Autumn Cup campaign.

Previously with our U16 Lionesses, congratulations to Niamh who has in recent months be playing for Huddersfield Town WFC. Sale United wish her well and hope she continues to flourish. In addition to playing with Huddersfield she has also, since the start of the season, been gaining coaching experience with our Pre-Foundation age groups assisting Jamie and Matt with the U6s, U7s and U8s. Again, a huge appreciation for the effort and commitment she has shown to help our younger members.

A huge thank you to Manchester City Football Club for extending us an invite to take part in their Young Player Development Program.

Players from across a number of age groups at Sale United have been invited to play matches against teams that are part of this program. Focusing primarily on fun and inclusion it is an opportunity to face players with a similar level of competition, to develop their game understanding and challenge their decision making in competitive environments.

So far, a number of our U9s and U11s were delighted to have the opportunity to take part in the first round of fixtures at the Manchester City Football Academy. A brilliant experience for them to train and play at world class facilities, the lads thoroughly enjoyed their evening. With future dates already scheduled we’re certain others that follow will similarly have an amazing experience.
