Manchester United's Rising Stars at Sale United Summer School (3 Sep)

Two of Manchester United’s rising young stars, Chris Eagles, along with Youth Team player Fraser Campbell, took a break from training to assist the presentation of the final awards at the end of Sale United’s six week Soccer School program which ended last Friday at our Crossford Bridge Ground.

Chris has already broken into the First team squad and only two weeks ago played in the 3-0 victory against Dynamo Bucharest in the qualifying stage of this year’s Champions League campaign. Fraser is one of the more senior Academy players playing at Under 18 level.

For the 30 youngsters attending the final week of the Summer Soccer School it was a highlight to meet the two professional football players who were willing to take questions about their life playing for one of the World’s leading football clubs. The inevitable question of whether they had met Wayne Rooney was just one that was put to Chris.

This was the first time that Sale United had staged such an extensive Summer Soccer program and Phil Dennison, the Soccer School co-ordinator said that he had been taken aback by the improvement in skill of many of the players, especially the ones who had previously had very little experience of the game. He was also pleased about the number of players who now wanted to sign up to become members of one of the Sale United junior football squads.

Club Chairman Stewart Hamer thanked Phil and his coaching team who despite some poor weather during some of the past few weeks had worked extremely hard to give the youngsters such a varied program of activities. He hoped that similar programs would be set up in the future.

Another fantastic goal!
